And good question. Your thinking which is to take an additional or single source Fructose supplement is good. But Fructose by itself can cause an upset stomach. And finding Fructose in it’s pure form can be a challenge. The good news is that there are many Glucose + Frustose sports drinks/gels/chews available. The research on this first dropped in the late 2000’s so it’s nothing new and as such many, many sports supplement companies have jumped on the band wagon. And rightly so! Loading up GLUT5 as well as SGLT1 means you can have more fuel delivered to working muscle. And having this ‘mix’ contained within a single serve makes it super convenient.
Now at this point I could name quite a few companies that provide such products. But it’s a very easy web search if you type in glucose + fructose sports drink or gel etc…A big hint when searching supplements. Always aim for the companies that are too big to fail. What I mean by that is. Look for big international brands that may (or may not?) be part of a bigger corporate structure. They generally have their own in-house science staff and will make sure everything is batch tested for contaminates. It’s also one of the really big companies whose products I buy for myself…and nearly all of the large concerns have multiple glucose + fructose options.
